My Hands May Be Small
The following is a poem that was sent to the charity. It was written by a young member of the public from England after seeing in a documentary called 'Britain's Smallest Toddlers'.
The documentary told the story of three young children who have Primordial Dwarfism in the United Kingdom. In the documentary their parents explain situations where their children faced cruel remarks, being laughed at and mocked, along with receiving negative stares from other children and adults.
As a whole these situations occur in the minority, but the still upset the parents, because they know their children will face this type of behaviour for the rest of their lives. It breaks their hearts because they know the child has to overcome so much in there lives just to be to accepted and live a normal existence.
The Foundation's name 'Walking With Giants' tries to convey the message that individuals affected by Primordial Dwarfism live in a world that is not made for them. However our logo depicts an individual with Primordial Dwarf leading from the front, celebrating that they have overcome all the hurdles and reached their potential in life.
This is synonymous with the contents of the poem, which sends out a postive and strong message.
If you ever get the oppotunity to meet someone with Primordial Dwarfism you will realise that it is them who are the giants!

MY HANDS MAY BE SMALL |

My hands may be smaller, and my legs not as long.
But you must realise and not get this wrong! My heart is as big, and my personality still gleams! My eyes still shine, and my smile always beams! Some things may take longer, and some things are a task. But you must realise I don't hind behind a mask! I'll take each challenge life throws my way, I'll hold every moment that i'm given each day. There may not be many small people like me. But you must realise I am still special! You see I can love like you, I can laugh like you!
I can smile like you, I can do all you can do! My hands may be smaller, and my legs not as long. But you must realise and not get this wrong - My heart is just as big! and my personality still gleams! By Aimee (UK)
